2022 Submission Requirements

Congratulations on your acceptance into the State of Black Design book publication. Below are instructions on how to submit your full paper/visual.

As noted in your acceptance email, Blackbird Revolt will be designing the layout for the journal and has created guidelines for your submission below:

Full Submission Template
It is imperative that you use this Microsoft Word Document template. This will be directly imported into the INDD layout. It is necessary to follow the paragraph styles in the document to ensure your headers and citations show up correctly in the publication.

Photos and Graphics
All visuals should be placed inside the Microsoft Word Document for location purposes and also sent separately in an email to the journal curators at info@stateofblackdesign.com. If the file(s) is/are too large for email, please include it in the email in which you attach your full submission as a link from your Google Drive or Dropbox.

Citations should be in Chicago Manual of Style: Notes-Bibliography System (NB). This style includes footnotes for notations and a bibliography. See an example paper here.
